ikshu learning hindi

ikshu reading the same words that he just read 5 mins ago wrongly.

me: u just now read 'pahiya' how come u don't remember 'ya'? when u r reading u should be thinking about what you are reading - not what to play, what to paint...

ikshu: i am thinking there is a monster in my head!

its hard to keep a straight face when ikshu is studying

me trying to get ikshu to prepare for his english test

me: what did anna find in front of the door?

expected answer: anna found a trunk in front of the door (a trunk which has silk gowns and silk carves etc)

ikshu's answer: anna found silk gowns and scarves in front of the door.

me: thats wrong. u r supposed to say "anna found a trunk in front of the door". repeat the answer.

ik: anna found a trunk and silk gowns and silk scarves in front of the door!!

my sweet revenge

couple of weeks back

ik: when i can i start chewing gum?

me: may be when u r 10, u know i never got to chew gum till i went to college.

ik: i don't have to do everything you did, i am only half tamil

today

me: duggu go brush ur teeth and come for breakfast

ik: can i brush after breakfast?

me: no, do it now

ik: papa brushes after breakfast, why can't i?

me: papa brushes before he goes to bed, and anyway, you can't do everything that papa does, you are only half gujju!!

ik: ...

i LOVE the way kuttos calls vani, vani chitti mamma!! of course, taking after ikshu... she also wants only ben ten toys. i am not so sure i like that she will wear only pants with pockets and hates skirts...

Ikshu - the diplomat

last evening he had painted - as in used berger rangoli on - one of the walls in his room... he gave up half way through cleaning it up and went to bed. he was still in bed this morning when i heard his daadi telling him off for creating such a mess... and few mins later when he still wasn't getting up i went and laid down next to him and we were chatting.

me: are you getting up now or are u still sleepy?

ik: i am still sleepy.

me: were u awake or did daadi wake you up?

ik: i got up coz i heard the noise

me: what noise?

ik: of daadi talking

ok, may be i overreacted y'day. was trying to talk to him today and he was equally cribbing about Varuni and Supriya!! they both booed yashu and ikshu off the play area y'day that yashu and ikshu had to take refuge in ikshu's house!

supriya...

if i know anything about crushes i think ikshu is in for a big one!!

y'day scene 1: school bus

ikshu gets in first. sits near a window, the seat next to him is empty. he is expectantly looking at supriya walking towards him. she walks in nonchalantly sits next to him. ikshu turns outside the window to look at me and hide a sense of 'man mein laddoo phoot rahe hain'. and she changes her mind and goes and sits in the seat behind him. and he turns back to look at her and she is gone. and he turns to look at me to see if i noticed... and i can't control my grin...

today scene 2: we are walking towards the bus stop. supriya is walking a little ahead of us with her dad. ikshu starts running towards her. and she hears the footsteps, knows its him and turns and sees. but does not acknowledge him. he runs and crosses her, does not stop near her and then turns back to look at her. and she crosses him again and he runs behind her and grabs her sholders from behind and tries to shake it playfully. she must have said something. he stops and runs ahead again. when i reach the bus stop he asks for his bag that i am carrying. and then thanks me for reaching the bus stop well ahead of time - before the bus comes (he is fully excited).

goes and sits inside the bus and the scene repeats again... he is sitting by the window waiting for supriya to join. today she walks past and sits in the seat behind him. and in half a min ikshu moves one more row to the front!! and i burst out laughing.
